The 2007 Orlando District award was presented to Ms.
Bliss Thompson who has been an outstanding international educator for over 14 years. Bliss currently serves as a counselor in the International Student Services Office at Valencia Community College, West Campus and is a tenured faculty member. Her knowledge of federal regulations is expansive and her commitment to helping others gain this knowledge is one of her greatest passions. She has not only been a mentor to many colleagues, but has taught that giving a little time, knowledge and care can help others make a difference in the lives of each and every international student. Bliss is a member of NAFSA trainer Corps and has been the lead trainer for F-1 Beginners workshops and F-1 Second Step workshops at FAIE and NAFSA conferences.
Sally Moorehead has been a leader in international education through the Tampa Bay area and the state for over two decades. She is an Assistant Director at the University of Tampa and has served students primarily with admission and student affair issues. In addition to her contributions with the University of Tampa, Sally served as the FAIE Tampa Coordinator for two terms. She also held area workshops and started an email group distributing regulatory information to the Tampa area since a lot of schools did not have an opportunity to become NAFSA members. Sally has presented at FAIE and NAFSA conferences and has done the F-1 Basics and F-1 Second step workshops for years.
