The 2010 Annual State Conference begins on Sunday, February 21, 2010 with a pre-conference Happy Hour Social at the Alfano Conference & Banquet Center in Tampa, Florida from 6:30 - 7:30 pm. The social hour provides participants with the opportunity to meet and network with Florida international education professionals. The cost of the social is included in conference registration and includes heavy hors d'oeuvres, sodas and light adult beverages.
On Monday, February 22, 2010, plan to check-in before 9am at the Alfano Conference & Banquet Center for a full day! Our schedule includes a plenary session; FAIE business meeting; three breakout sessions with topics in the areas of immigration advising, study abroad, admissions, community programming, English language programs, and cultural programming; and a government panel made up of SEVP, ICE, CBP, DMV, and an immigration attorney.
Post-conference, on Tuesday, February 23, 2010, we are offering three NAFSA Foundations Workshops (F-1 Student Advising for Beginners; F-1 Student Advising: Intermediate; J-1 Regulations for Beginners) lead by members of NAFSA’s Trainer Corps NAFSA Foundations workshops provide an introduction and overview to the major practice areas within international education. They are useful for the newcomer who needs to gain a broad understanding or experienced international educators who are taking on new responsibilities or changing direction. Each workshop is organized around 8 hours of training and uses a core curriculum and materials so that key content areas are covered consistently regardless of venue. Participants in the workshops receive a certificate of completion from NAFSA: Association of International Educators. Workshops are offered at a reduced rate of $195.00. Space is limited, so register early! You may register for a workshop without registering and attending the Annual Conference.
We are currently accepting proposals for breakout sessions. If you or someone you know are interested in presenting, please fill out the proposal form.
